Nelapattu(Nellore)

Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary

Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary is located 20 km away from Pulicat Lake along the East Coast in the Nellore District. It is easily approachable from the city of Nellore and also from Chennai, which lies only 50 km away from the bird sanctuary. 


This sanctuary is famous as the breeding ground for several rare species of birds. Some endangered bird species that thrive inside this bird sanctuary are the little cormorant, painted stork, white-ibis and spotted billed pelican. The best season to visit Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary is between the months of October and March which is one of the best seasons for bird watching.



During this period every year a festival called flemingo festival is celebrated here. Many events takes place like entertainment programs such as dancing,singing,cultural activities.

Birds come and build their nests on the trees between october and november,During november to december they lay eggs and start incubating.
Egg hatching will be done in the period of december to january after that these birds feed their chicks and leave nelapattu at the time of april.

By Air : The nearest airport is thirupathi which is 67km away.
By Bus : You can reach sullurpet from tirupathi bus station,Gudur bus station.
By Train : Nearest railway station is Naidupeta/sullurpeta which is 13 km away.

Ranganatha Temple

Ranganatha Temple is also called as Thalpagiri Ranganatha swamyTemple.It is located in Ranganayakula peta, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh.It was built on the banks of penna river.
The temple was built by pallavas in 7th and 8th century and developed by king Raja mahendra varma in 12th century.

STHALA PURANA:

The Ranganatha(lord vishnu) Temple  sthala purana says that lord vishnu wants to vistit bhoolokha with his wife(sridevi),so he asked aadhishesha a place to reside over,obeying his masters order aadhishesha oocupied a mountain rock over there and he turned in to a couch for his lord.Hence this place is called as thalpa giri kshethra.



ATTRACTIONS:
Just before the main entrance of the temple is a huge tower, called Gaaligopuram, which literally means "wind tower". This tower is approximately 70 feet high and has 10 feet of gold plated vessels on top of it, called kalashams.

 Every year during the month of March–April (which varies according to the Indian calendar) a grand festival is celebrated. These are called Brahmotsavam.

On the days of Brahmotsavam(kalyanam) many cultural activities takes place like bharathanatyam,khuchipudi dances and Gana kacheri.




How to Reach

By Train: From nellore railway station walkable distable or you can pick auto(local transport).
By Bus: From athmakur bustop(potti sriramulu bustand) it takes 10 min to the temple.  

Korangi Wildlife Sanctuary

Korangi wildlife sanctuary is located at a distance of around 18 km from Kakinada on the Kakinada-Yanam state highway.It is named after a village called korangi.
This place is filled with different type of trees which provides lot of oxygen to that area.Due the presence of these vast amount of trees reduces the effect of damage from natural calamaties.

Best place for nature lovers.and a special advantage of boating is also available here.korangi is filled with different species of plants.Best place for photography.





Sanctuary opens at 9:00AM and closes at 6:00PM. There will be an entrance ticket which will cost nearly Rs.20/- only. It is also shooting spot,Many tollywood movies had done shooting here.




Main Wildlife Attractions: Golden Jackal, Sea turtle, Fishing cat, Estuarine Crocodile,Small Blue Kingfisher, Cattle Egret.
